I have been teaching geography in Educare Secondary and High School Bamenda from 2022/2023 academic year till present. The 2025 and 2026 GCE Ordinary level results of my school, geography has been the best performant subject in both sessions both quantitatively (all students passed) and qualitatively. My teaching is student-centered. I begin by identifying learning gaps and the student's objective(s)--that is whether for improvement, exam etc. My principle is simple: I teach you to know, understand, comprehend and apply in daily life situations. I can't teach you, then you fail. If you do fail, then you choose to. My lessons run in three steps: Firstly, I start with a 5-minutes assessment to see what you already know and difficulties. Then I teach the core lesson using simple daily life examples, visuals, explanations. We spend most of the time practicing together , whereby I guide, students do. I correct instantly and explain why/how to get it all correct next time. Finally, I summarize and give homework and revision tips to keep students progressing until next time. Also, I encourage questions and ensure students understand, not memorize.
