About Tiachih
I am a History teacher with experience teaching students across the lower and upper secondary levels, including preparing students for GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations. My goal is not simply to help students memorize historical facts, but to help them understand why events happened, how they are connected, and how to confidently use what they have learned when answering examination questions. My lessons are practical, interactive, and student-centered. I encourage students to think critically, analyse historical events, form their own opinions, and explain their ideas rather than simply repeat information. Students are given plenty of opportunities to practise through exercises, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, source analysis, and examination-style questions. This helps them develop both a deeper understanding of History and the confidence needed to tackle GCE questions effectively. I also believe History becomes much more interesting when students can connect it to the world around them. I use real-life examples, relatable situations, and everyday scenarios to make historical concepts easier to understand and remember. My classroom is therefore a space where learning is serious, but it does not have to feel boring. There is room for curiosity, laughter, discussion, and even a little friendly debate. Students can expect a cordial, fun, yet firm relationship with me. I create an environment where they feel comfortable expressing themselves, asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again without feeling embarrassed. At the same time, I maintain clear expectations and encourage students to take responsibility for their learning. Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult History topic, improving their analytical skills, practising examination questions, or preparing for their GCE examinations, my aim is to meet them at their level and help them make steady progress. "History is more than remembering what happened. It is about understanding why it happened and learning how to think about the world because of it".
