Braabby Referral terms

Braabby is an online tutoring platform for the Cameroon GCE (Ordinary and Advanced Level), operated from Cameroon and available at braabby.com. In this document "Braabby", "we", "us" and "our" mean the operator of that platform; "you" means the person accepting this document.

Registered particulars — company name, legal form, RCCM number, taxpayer number and registered office — are filed with the competent Cameroonian authorities and are stated in full on our published company information page. Where this document must name the contracting entity, that entity is the registered operator of Braabby.

Braabby teaches school-age learners, and every Braabby teacher is an adult. A learner under 18 may use Braabby ONLY under the direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian. This is a condition of using the platform, not a recommendation, and it applies to every lesson, every message and every payment. (Separately, any student under 21 uses Braabby under the responsibility of a parent or guardian, who accepts these documents on their behalf.)

What direct supervision means

• A parent or guardian must know when each lesson is scheduled, and must be at home and reachable while it takes place.
• Lessons are live video with an adult. The parent or guardian must be able to see and hear the lesson at any moment, and may sit in on any lesson, at any time, without asking. No teacher may object to a parent being present, and no teacher may ask a learner to be alone, to close a door, or to move to a room where they cannot be seen.
• The parent or guardian should read the learner's messages with teachers from time to time. Every conversation stays on Braabby precisely so that a parent can do this.
• The account belongs to the family. The guardian is responsible for what is done through it — bookings, coins, messages and conduct — and should hold the password rather than leave it with a young child.
• A learner under 18 who cannot be supervised in this way should not use Braabby.

What Braabby does on its side

• Every teacher is identity-checked against a government ID and their qualifications are reviewed by a person before they may teach a single lesson.
• All teaching happens in Braabby's own classroom and all messaging happens on Braabby. A teacher may not move a learner to WhatsApp, a personal number, or any channel a parent cannot see. Asking to is a serious breach and grounds for immediate removal.
• Every lesson is one-to-one — one teacher and one student — and the platform records who attended and for how long.
• Messages may be reviewed where there is a safeguarding concern, as set out in our Privacy Policy.
• A concern about any teacher's conduct can be reported from the lesson or the chat at any time. It reaches a person, and a teacher may be suspended while it is reviewed.

If anything about a teacher's behaviour worries you — a request to talk privately elsewhere, contact outside lesson times, questions that have nothing to do with the subject, or anything that makes a learner uncomfortable — stop the lesson and report it through Help & Support, or email legal@braabby.com. Tell us even if you are not sure. We would far rather review something harmless than miss something that mattered.

• A student can refer once their yearly access fee has been paid and confirmed by the payment provider. A teacher can refer once Braabby has verified them.
• You refer people like you: a student refers a student, and a teacher refers a teacher. Other kinds of referral may be added later; they will be described in these terms before they start.
• A friend is someone new to Braabby who creates their own account with your code. Each person can be referred once, ever, and by one person only.
• You cannot refer yourself, a second account of your own, or anyone who already has a Braabby account.
• Supporters (donors) cannot refer or be referred, and Braabby staff are never rewarded under the programme.
• Referral is one level only: you are rewarded for the friends you refer, never for the people they refer.

• Your code is created when you agree to these terms, and it is yours alone. It is made from letters of your first name and a few characters that are hard to misread.
• You can share it, or your personal link, however you like, as long as you share it yourself: Braabby never uploads your contacts, never messages anyone in your name, and never sends texts for you.
• If your friend follows your link, their browser remembers your code for 30 days, so it is still there when they sign up.
• A friend can arrive through your link or type your code when they sign up. If they forget, they can add it within 7 days of joining, while they are waiting to pay (students) or to be verified (teachers), and never after.
• Your link page shows your first name and initial. For a student, that is the learner's own name.
• Braabby may pause a code that is being misused (see section 6).

• A student friend succeeds when both of these have happened, in either order: their first yearly access fee has been paid and confirmed by the payment provider, and Braabby has approved their identity.
• A teacher friend succeeds in two steps: when Braabby verifies them, and again when they have taught 10 coins of paid, confirmed lessons to at least 3 different students within 90 days of being verified.
• Only real teaching and real money count. Lessons paid with free coins, lessons that did not take place, Braabby's own onboarding lessons, and a fee marked as paid without a confirmed payment do not.
• Being referred changes no check: a referred teacher is reviewed in the usual order, and a referred student's identity is checked in the usual way.
• A friend who has not succeeded within 90 days of joining no longer counts. For a teacher, succeeding here means being verified; the teaching step then has its own 90 days, as above.

• Student refers student: your friend receives 2 coins the moment they succeed, and you receive 2 coins 7 days later.
• Teacher refers teacher: you receive 500 XAF when your friend is verified, and 500 XAF when they have taught as described in section 3. Each is paid 7 days after it is earned, and the second is never paid before the first.
• Students are rewarded in coins and teachers in money, never the other way round. Coins arrive in your coin wallet; money arrives in your earnings and is withdrawn to your own mobile-money number in the usual way.
• Referral coins are free coins: they pay for lessons like any other coin and expire like them, but they cannot be sent to another student and are never exchanged for cash (see the Refund Policy).
• There is no limit on how many friends you can refer, and no end date: the programme runs until Braabby stops it (section 7).

• Every reward is paid once, only when its conditions are met, and the conditions are checked again at the moment of payment. If either account is suspended or closed before then, the reward is not paid.
• A student referrer whose yearly access has lapsed when a reward falls due receives it when they renew.
• Each payment appears on your dashboard as "Braabby referral", with your friend's first name and initial, the amount, the date and its own reference, which starts with "REF-".
• If a reward was paid by mistake, or was obtained in breach of these terms, Braabby may reverse it. A reversal is approved by a senior member of staff and shown on your dashboard.

• To stop people referring themselves, Braabby compares details between the two accounts: phone numbers, email addresses, mobile-money numbers, the network used and the phone the app runs on. A strong match, such as the same phone number or the same handset, holds the referral for a person to review. A family sign, such as the same mobile-money payer or the same network, is only noted, unless 2 or more appear together.
• An unusual number of referrals in one day (more than 10) is also looked at by a person. Nothing is capped, and nobody is refused for being popular.
• Referring yourself or accounts you control, creating accounts only to earn rewards, spam, or misleading anyone about Braabby is not allowed. Braabby may then refuse or reverse rewards, pause your code, and act under the Acceptable Use Policy.
• A decision to hold, refuse or reverse a reward can be questioned through Help & Support, and a person will look at it again.

• Braabby switches each kind of referral on and off, and a code works only for a kind that is switched on. When a kind is switched off, no new referrals of that kind are recorded, but a friend who had already joined with your code can still succeed, and you are still rewarded as these terms promised.
• Braabby may change these terms for the future. The version you agreed to, and when, is recorded with your account, and a change never takes away a reward already earned.

• A referrer agrees to these terms with one tap before their code is created. A friend agrees to them with their sign-up agreement when they join with a code.
• Both agreements are recorded with the date and the version of these terms.
• Taking part is optional. You can stop sharing your code at any time; rewards already earned are still paid.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon. They are written to comply with, among others, Law No. 2010/012 of 21 December 2010 on cybersecurity and cybercrime, Law No. 2010/021 of 21 December 2010 governing electronic commerce, Framework Law No. 2011/012 on consumer protection, and applicable OHADA Uniform Acts.

We would always rather resolve a concern amicably. Please first contact us through the in-app Help & Support so we can try to settle the matter directly. If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, it shall be submitted to the competent courts of Cameroon.

We may update this document as the platform, our practices or the law change. The date at the top always shows when it was last revised, and the current version is the one published on braabby.com.

Where a change materially affects your rights or what you pay, we will tell you in advance through the platform or by email, and — where the law requires it — ask you to accept the new version before you continue.
